//March 13, 2001 - now vs. nontense :

Tempus has evolved from that frustrated sort of insistence on the present, to just dispensing w/ time entirely. I had thought that living in the present was the only way to do that, but the present is still very much in time, and my thinking is moving out of time altogether. At any rate, it remains to “fracture” the construct of our timely illusions. Our preconceptions and eminently functional notions. I think we exist outside of time, we just don’t have words to express the idea of existence without time. I end up referring to it as “now”, but “now” is a relative time-based term that doesn’t really mean anything. We maintain the pretense of time because it provides such a functional idea. Time is a convenient backdrop for contrast and function. You can work with something that has predictable cause & effect, past/present rules. Time strikes me as this universal lie we all agree to work with because it’s convenient. And then I have to conclude that our understanding of Reality has to be inaccurate because we’re viewing it from this ultimately flawed perspective within time. It really is a colossally undermining illusion.
