Any Old Actress

I really did php the site when I said I would a month ago. I sat here, sorted out my style switcher, tested it, got my header+footer includes all ready to go. And then it took another month before I found a chance to copy+paste all the content pages. I did finally finish it the other day though, failed to post about it, and still need to categorise almost all of the old entries. Bottom line is that I am thrilled with the conversion, and my style switcher now WORKS predictably. It’s a truly beautiful thing.

I’ll probably wait a bit before deleting the old .shtml files. I kinda hate getting that many redirects all at once, and a week or so should take long enough to re-index the various pages. Right?

We’re snowed in today!

Iced over at any rate. The driveway, which is grave/l and very nearly vertical is a sheer pane of slick, neck-breaking ice. The dad was up and out at 6:00 a.m. for me trying to get my car unfrozen and down the driveway. Didn’t happen, so no work for me. I should feel worse about it, but the honest-to-goodness truth is that I’m a little bit burnt out and a snow day is the single best thing on earth for me right now. I showered this morning when I thought I was still going to work, and so now, I’m still wearing pajamas and my crazy long striped socks. It’s absolutely heavenly to sleep in ‘til 11 and wear pajamas all day long.

I also got my Winter 05 Limiteds added to the Villainess site on the 21st. I don’t do christmas, but I had all these fun new ideas I wanted to debut with like omg, right now. So, they went live w/ the first of Winter - which is later than all the other retailers special new stuff, but at least has the distinction of being fun and new when everyone else’s catalog is old and post-x-mas drab. Right? And so yeah, of course I added them to the site on the 21st, and haven’t sent out the newsletter yet. Mad skillz, ya know?

So, spending the day catching up on correspondence (Alana and Stephen - this means you my homies!), updating websites (this one, and Fading I hope), contacting customers, and publishing to mailing lists. Oooh, and I may update my BPAL Tracker. I’ve got a new order to catalog and sample one by one - it’ll last me for months.

Can you do a mod_rewrite instead of redirects on your server? That method is pretty much undetectble - there’s no pause in the browser unlike redirects sometimes.

I probably could… but something like this sounds like it would take some figuring out. I mean, even the geeky site itself says it’s complex.
