Eight Awesome Years

Happy Birthday!

Most years we’re just a little to busy to remember our birthday on the 14th. But 8 years is sort of a big deal for a funny little soap business, and we’ve got a series of fabulous mini-events planned that should keep the celebration rolling for most of this month!

It wouldn’t be a Villainess birthday without our favourite cake! Birth Rite is Layer cake. Lightly spiced with cinnamon and ginger, frosted with berries, and grounded with a resinous skin-scent - precious amber, sweet myrrh, tonka bean and peppercorn. The juxtaposition of spices with resins and juicy berries… quintessential. Why mess with a good thing?

Birth Rite is featured in our classic layered Soap, and our perfectly-formuated Whipped. For a second year, it is also available as a layered Smooch!. We don’t do these often, but it’s a lovely concoction of what amounts to 3 different scrubs in one jar. A scrubby layer loaded with resins, another with spice, and a (terribly pink) crushed-berry topping.

This exquisite, truly signature scent also comes in a very-wearable Extrait. To complement the scent, we offer the Birth Rite Lite Smack! (Layers of Incense, Buttercream Cupcake and Spicetrade, topped with a scoop of Berry Patch.).

Birth Rite is currently available in our Black Label category, as well as with the all the usual suspects.

The multi-part party kicks off with a token-hunt. We have prepared 200 tiny-presents, containing 200 birthday candles, for the first 200 orders placed after 08/01/11 (at midnight, CST). Each tiny-present represents a chance to win one-of-two Grand Prizes; a $50-value “Birth Rite” Giftset (includes a Soap, Smooch!, Whipped!, Extrait & Cheap Shot) or a $50 Gift Certificate (to spend at your discretion). The goal is to hopefully uncover an extra-special Silver Birthday Candle, but we’ve also attached an undisclosed number of prize codes (fer a Free Soap, or 5% off) to some perfectly-festive Stripey Candles. You’re welcome to place up to 3 orders and receive a chance to win (further orders will not receive a token), orders will not be combined. Grand prize winners will need to contact us w/ their winning prize codes, all other prize codes will be immediately active, so you’re welcome to apply those to future orders. Exciting, right?

Running with the whole “eight” theme, we’ve planned a series of 8 sales to last throughout August. We’re not posting the sale schedule ahead of time, so you’ll have to check the Official Blog or Facebook Page to see which one is currently running. We’re going to change ‘em up around every 4 days, and they’ll consist of things like BOGOs, varied Free Shipping deals, etc. Our very FIRST sale to kick things off is a Buy Two, Get One Free Smack! - buy two Smack! items (doesn’t matter if they’re custom or staff-pick) and the price of a third will be deducted from the cart (you have to add the third one, or we won’t know which one you want). You can only do this twice per order.

And a couple of Rough Cuts to celebrate the last vacation-y part of summer! Orange Creme and Banana Creme. Both feature their titular fruits with a crisp, sweet touch of coconut. They are carefully marbled soaps, and overall convey a creaminess and luxury befitting a poolside lounge!

Hi there! I unwrapped a yellow candle with white stripe on it, is that one of the striped candles with the smaller prize? I didn’t see a code attached anywhere though. Let me know? Thanks!
